The road here was known
as Vinegar Hill, because it is has a sharp bend.
Carry on pass the entrance
to Drop Lane and Riverside Way.
Then take the path on your
right between two fields and follow this path
to the Radlett Road .
There is a house on your left called Frogmore
Lodge and a new barn conversion to your right.
Frogmore Lodge was the gate
house to the original Frogmore House. Frogmore
housed many famous people, but Lady Yule had it
knocked down, because she did not want anyone
in the area to have a house as grand as hers.
Instead she bred cattle there. The grounds of
old Frogmore has been subject of a conversion
and it is a stable yard and is now known as Winslo
House and Winslo Stables.
At Radlett
Road go right and immediately left up through
the industrial estate.
On the 1st left bend cross the road and up over
the bridge.
Keep heading along down this path pass some fishing
lakes and a new house and paddocks.
You
will then go beside the river under the M25. and
enter some farm land. Here you keep close to the
hedge line.
You can have a short canter along here to where
the field meets the road.
Here you have a choice; you can ride around the
field edge to your left and have a canter for
about 500m, but at the end you have to turn around
and ride back or you can continue to London Colney
and then back track to Smug Oak Stables.
