We are a small friendly yard offering extensive stabling, hacking and grazing in some of the most beautiful countryside that Hertfordshire has to offer.

Situated in Bricket Wood we are the ideal choice for the Competiton rider, Riding Club/Pony Club member, those that just like to hack; sporting affordable prices and ever evolving and expanding facilities; and we are only a hack away from Patchett’s Equestrian Centre and the famous ‘water meadows’ for water loving riders and horses

Hi my name is Bec and this is my horse Samson

 

I am the Yard Manager at Smug Oak Stables. I compete myself at Novice & Elementary Dressage and I Showjump small Opens.

I have competed and been placed at Herts & Bucks County Shows in the Middle weight Ridden Hunter. Tried a bit of Side Saddle and compete regularly at Affiliated Dressage.
I pride myself with one on one care for the horses and know them all individually.

When you leave your horse in my care you know that you do not have to worry about anything.

 

Until 3 years ago I still had a 9-5 Job as a Test Engineer working for BSI and BRE I progressed up from a Traineee to Managing my own lab...then one Monday moring I could not take the grey office, people and environment anymore. I handed in my notice to go and work free lance which I did as "Show Prep Bec"

I have worked for my Dressage Trainer at the time Lisa Hopkins and also spend 3 months in Spain on the Sunshine Tour with the Showjumpers and various other yard jobs with a variety of duties. I have done my BHS Stages at college, hold a current First Aid and Child Protection certificate.

 

I have now ended up with my own yard to run, for a lot of people they leave school and go straight to horses so I feel this has happened a bit back to front but I now feel I have a lot more knowledge and experience behind me with managing the buisness and dealing with liverys.
